“Decisions about your health should be made by you and your doctor, not corporate executives or politicians. I have always been 100% pro-choice and will never compromise on women’s health.” – Cathy Myers
The American Women’s Party is proud to endorse Cathy Myers for Wisconsin’s 1st District. Cathy Myers is a longtime resident in Janesville, Wisconsin and teacher nearby. She has been serving on the Janesville School Board since 2013 and is committed to public education. Cathy Myers wants to invest in public education and move away from a focus on test scores. She advocates compensating teachers better and providing more teacher education. Cathy Myers knows that public education is about more than just the classroom and that schools must provide the resources for children to be in the best position to learn.
Cathy Myers also proposes investment in public universities as well as technical and trade schools so that our workforce is prepared to transition to a clean economy and one that can invest infrastructure for job creation. This investment should include a transition to free public college and student debt relief so more people can have access to education and fully participate in the economy after school. Transitioning to a clean economy will help the environment as well as providing job growth.
Cathy Myers is a strong supporter of reproductive rights and healthcare. She is committed to improving access to reproductive health especially for poor and rural women in Wisconsin. To that end she will fight for federal funding of women’s health clinics. Cathy Myers is strongly against oppression of any kind and stands with her LGBT constituents against so called “religious freedom” bills and the GOP’s radical agenda against LGBT rights.
“Oppression of any kind is unsustainable, demoralizing, and poor public policy.”– Cathy Myers
