“Reproductive equality means that women should have the right to determine what type of family makes the most sense for them, and this includes the freedom to control and plan their own families. Family freedom for women is a health issue, an economic issue and an equality issue that I will fight for.” -Elaine DiMasi
The American Women’s Party is pleased to announce our endorsement of Elaine DiMasi for NY-1. Elaine DiMasi is a longtime resident of Suffolk County who worked at Brookhaven National Laboratory for 21 years. She will bring her scientific background to all issues knowing the importance of data and research. DiMasi proposes a clean energy economy that will provide job growth with new technologies, raise the minimum wage, and protect our environment.
Elaine DiMasi wants to represent LGBTQ people in her district with her opposition to “religious freedom” bills and her support for the Equality Act and the NYS Genda law to protect transgender people from discrimination. “I support LGBTQ peoples’ right to live free from bullying, fear, and discrimination. I support marriage equality, the right to change sex recorded on birth documents, the right to have school records reissued with chosen names, and the right to use facilities per gender expression.”
Elaine DiMasi is a strong supporter of reproductive rights and women’s equality. She calls for ending the Hyde Amendment, fully funding Planned Parenthood, and pay equity. DiMasi also knows the discrimination women face in the workplace to due family status, pregnancy, and sexual harassment. She will work to strengthen order of protection laws and protect women from domestic violence. Elaine DiMasi knows that the loopholes that allow domestic abusers to get guns must be closed to protect women and the general public.
“I am running this race because I know that a future of limitless possibility is well within reach. Ever a scientist at heart, I embrace the future – I know it is possible to solve tough problems and thrive here on Long Island.”- Elaine DiMasi
